This series of diptychs, Form and Space, explores the relationship between presence and absence, form and space. Each pair consists of a figurative image and an abstract counterpart, creating a dialogue between the visible and the implied, as well as between classical realism and a contemporary painterly language. The compositions are built on contrast and balance. The human figure, often simplified or partially dissolved into painterly strokes, becomes both subject and trace.
Within Form and Space, the figure does not remain confined to a single canvas but extends into the surrounding field, where texture, color, and line continue its presence. Space becomes not merely a background, but an active element that holds, interrupts, and completes the form.
Color plays a central role in shaping the emotional atmosphere of each diptych. Muted, earthy tones are punctuated by restrained accents of red, green, or blue, creating subtle focal points and guiding the viewer’s attention across the two canvases.
The diptych format allows the image to extend beyond a single frame, suggesting that identity cannot be confined to a fixed form. Each work becomes a quiet exploration of wholeness, where the visible and the absent exist in delicate balance and complete one another.
